BRING LIGHT SUITCASES (it is difficult to travel around Italy with heavy suitcases, often in old cities there are no elevators and changing trains with heavy suitcases is very difficult!)

How to pack the suitcase?
It is necessary to bring at least one sports shoe for excursions and for walking in the town. There are slopes and stairs, the terrain can even be slippery when wet.
A light raincoat, a coat and comfortable, cool clothing, especially in the summer months. A change of formal clothes for a party or dinner that may require it.
Swimsuit and what you need to go to the beach. Some beaches do not have sand and the surface of small stones can be annoying.
For those who come outside of summer, warm clothing should also be considered.
Remember that the apartments have washing machines! You shouldn’t bring so many changes.

CLIMATE

Summer in Italy is quite hot, in the south the weather is milder at night, especially in cities like Belvedere, which is on the coast.
The most pleasant temperatures are in spring and autumn.
The temperature in summer varies from 18°C to 30°C (64°F to 86°F). In winter it varies from 4°C to 16°C (39°F to 61°F).

CREDIT CARDS/TRAVELER’S CHECKS

Credit cards are accepted in almost all stores, but especially in town you will have to pay in cash.
Traveler’s checks are not accepted in stores.
You can withdraw cash at the numerous automated teller machines (ATM) present and in the cities (VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Cirrus, Maestro circuits), if you have a card that offers the possibility of doing so abroad.
In the village there is an ATM at the Italian post office.
ATMs only dispense EUROS, and not other types of currency.

Another important fact is that you will have a daily limit to withdraw cash at Italian ATMs (normally €250). We recommend exchanging euros before leaving (it is difficult and expensive to exchange dollars and other currencies in Italian banks). Read Money Exchange.

ELECTRICITY

The voltage used in Italy is 220 Volts/AC.
The plugs of various appliances and electronic devices may be different from those used in your country, so do your research and bring an adapter with you.
Alternatively, you can also buy an adapter here for around €5.

MONEY EXCHANGE

We recommend you buy EUROS directly in your country before leaving. Or in Rome where there are many exchange offices near Roma Termini.
There are no exchange offices in Belvedere.
To exchange money you will have to go to the Poste Italiane office in Cetraro or Cosenza. Even at the Western Union office in Cosenza.

INSURANCE

Our students are insured in the following cases:
● during the classes
● during the time reserved for school activities.

Participants are not insured during the time they spend outside the School (in accommodation or during free time, where they can move wherever they want).

Furthermore, there is no coverage in relation to illnesses, accidents, theft or loss of personal belongings that do not in any way affect the School or the house where the students stay.

For this reason, we recommend taking out personal travel insurance.
During your stay in Italy, you must have insurance against illnesses and accidents.
Citizens of member countries of the European Union have the right to receive treatment free of charge if they are in possession of the E111 form, which they can obtain from the health authorities of the country of origin, before leaving for Italy.

On the other hand, students who come from countries outside the European Union should ask the authorities of their country of origin if they have any type of insurance for stays abroad. If students do not have any type of insurance coverage, they must purchase one that can guarantee a peaceful stay in Italy. In addition, it would be advisable to have insurance that covers the loss of objects or other things.

It is necessary for this to contact your travel agent for more details, also with your bank/credit card which may have promotions.

INTERNET/PHONE USE

There is no Internet connection in the Belvedere Marittimo accommodation.
In Belvedere there is WIFI connection in Piazza Amellino (via the Poste Italiane) or in the bars.

You can buy an Italian SIM card to have a telephone line and wifi. With this SIM you can connect to your computer.
*Check the list of extra services for purchasing a SIM before arriving.

If you need to buy your SIM card in another city, such as Rome, we recommend you go to the official offices of the mobile phone companies.

We advise you to contract with Vodafone/Ho because it is the operator that works best in the town.

Vodafone www.vodafone.it
TIM www.tim.it
Wind www.wind.it

INTERNATIONAL CALLS

HEALTH, DOCTOR VISITS AND PHARMACIES

In the Belvedere marina there are several medical and dental offices, and pharmacies.
Don’t forget, if it is necessary to take medication regularly, to bring with you the amount necessary for your stay. In the pharmacy you will need a prescription from an Italian doctor.

If you need a prescription medication, you will need to call your insurance company and ask the doctor to give you the specific prescription.

During your stay in Italy, you must have insurance against illnesses and accidents ( Read Insurance ).

Clearly these values can vary greatly depending on your habits and needs.
